Ravens rule out WRs Odell Beckham Jr. and Rashod Bateman for game at Cleveland OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — Just as their running back group becomes a little healthier, the Baltimore Ravens suddenly have big concerns at wide receiver. The Ravens ruled out Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) and Rashod Bateman (hamstring) for Sunday’s game at Cleveland. That takes out two of Lamar Jackson’s top targets, although rookie receiver Zay Flowers and tight end Mark Andrews are healthy.Running back Gus Edwards, who was evaluated for a concussion after leaving last weekend’s game, has been a full participant at practice all week, and Justice Hill (foot) was a full participant Friday and is questionable for Sunday. The Ravens also ruled out cornerback Marlon Humphrey (foot) and linebackers David Ojabo (ankle/knee) and Odafe Oweh (ankle). Tackle Ronnie Stanley, who was back at practice earlier in the week following a knee injury, did not practice Friday and is doubtful.___AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/nflSource

Court orders Subway franchise owners to pay workers nearly $1M – and to sell or close their stores SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A federal court ordered the owners of 14 Subway locations north of San Francisco to pay employees nearly $1 million in damages and back pay — and also to sell or shut their businesses, with any sale proceeds going to the Department of Labor. Federal investigators said franchise owners John and Jessica Meza directed children as young as 14 to operate dangerous machinery, assigned minors work hours that violated federal law, and failed to pay their employees regularly, including by issuing hundreds of bad checks and illegally keeping tips left by customers. The Labor Department also charged that the Mezas coerced employees in an attempt to prevent them from cooperating with its investigation and that an associate, Hamza Ayesh, played a role in those efforts, including threatening an employee who complained about receiving a bad check. The Mezas did not admit to threatening or coercing employees, according to Arkady Itkin, their lawyer, who added that they did admit...

Teheran was a victim of the resulting numbers crunch.“This wasn’t something we wanted to do, but we set a priority of … kind of making sure that the pitchers we’re going to count on in the next round went into it in a good situation, and so unfortunately it was something we had to do,” Brewers manager Craig Counsell said.Teheran, who made two All-Star teams while pitching for the Atlanta Braves from 2011-19, had spent 2022 out of the majors before making a co...
